MMBFC is a member of the Pleasure Anglers and Kayakers Association (PAKA). The benefits are:
- Participation in their fishing competition, many of which are on the Swansea Breakwater and ABPs only allow fishing there through PAKA.
- Sharing knowledge and experience with other anglers in a wider fishing community.
- Comprehensive Public and Personal Liability Insurance at very competitive rates.
The Club Public Liability cover provides protection for The Club itself and, by definition, its Officers and Committee Members. The cover is operative in the event that a Court Order was made following a ruling that found the The Club, or its officers, had been guilty of negligence that had led to Damage to a Third Party or their property. Limit cover £5,000,000 any on occurrence, or series of occurrence arising from one event (but limited to £500,000 any one event in respect of PERSONAL LIABILITY incurred by any member albeit that juniors under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult of at least21 years of age at all times.
The Personal Liability Cover provides protection should a similar finding be made but The Court decided that said Damage was the result of an individuals personal negligence. In other words this cover would be operative in circumstances where The Club had no responsibility for the individual's action. This section of the insurance, by definition, also provides Member to Member cover.
This insurance cover is inclusive of our Membership Fees.
PAKA
run a very comprehensive coaching scheme for juniors. The programme was
designed in to help bring youngsters into fishing and develop their understand the
local aquaculture and marine environment. It has been quite
successful and is now being used by local schools , clubs for children
and scout groups. The coaching programme also helps in the
rehabilitation of the more vulnerable members of society. As well as
donations from member clubs, PAKA has been fortunate in receiving a
few grants to helped fund the coaching events, beach clean ups, and
identifying where the rubbish collected came from and their impact on
the marine environment. An insight has also been given on the
negative effects of overfishing and historical fishing rights by
large trawlers. To help conserve fish stocks the practice of catch
and release fishing has been adopted as PAKA policy and used by their members and in all PAKA fishing competitions, matches and
coaching sessions.
All MMBFC junior members can participate in the PAKA coaching programme.
