New members are welcome to join at any time. There is a joining fee of £10 (one payment only) and membership fee (currently £30) are payable for a full year (January-December) or half a year (July-December for £15 +£10 joining fee).
You can join from now for the price of 12 months membership at £40.
For currrent members we are open for membership renewals, you can pay by BACS, cheques or cash. Pay on a Thursday night or contact the Secretary.
Membership Renewal
Paying your membership maintains all the benefits of bing a member. If you have not renewed your membship by 1 January 2019 you will not be covered by our 3rd party insurance policy nor will you be able to go out on our boat fishing trips.
If you have already paid for 2019 thank you for your contiuing support.

Most members have now renewed their membership.
New member are welcome to join now aor at anytime throughout the year. The annual membership fee is £30 and there is a one off joining fee of £10.

The Mead combined liability insurance cover includes personal liability cover for all Club members, including juniors under 16 but they must be accompanied/supervised by a responsible adult. Members meet weekly on a Thursday night for social activities, fishing trip planning and booking, sharing of practical knowledge and fishing experiences.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS
We are now open for membership renewals. Membership expires on 31 December and unless you renewyou will not be able to take part in club activity and you will not be covered by our 3rd party insurance policy. This does not apply to new members who have paid for 2019.
You may pay by cash or cheque on a Thursday night at the club or by BACS contact the secretary for bank details.

Conservation Survey 19 June 2017
Rob Colley and 3 more members had a really good day, monitoring marine life. They recorded 239 Common dolphin; 2 unidentified dolphin (probably Risso’s dolphin); 6 Harbour porpoise; 2 Grey seals; 820++ Manx shearwater; 4 Storm petrel; 20+ Gannets; !00+ Guillemots; 6 Razorbill; 1 Puffin; 3 Common scoter; 2 Sandwich terns; 3 Red admiral butterflies; lots of bacon butties.
Skipper was John Elvins and crew Richie Pearce and Vic Lilygreen.
EU recreational fishing restrictions area
In ICES areas VIIj and VIIk from 1st January to 31st December Bass catch and release only - no keepers

The 42cm MLS is probably still insufficient. A female bass of 41 cm at start of the spring spawning period will not be a viable spawner, as their sexual maturity is around 46cm. By the time the following annual spawning period arrives, she will be approx. 46 – 48 cm and she will spawn for the first time. IF, with a 42 cm MLS she is caught during that 12 month period and retained she will have been killed BEFORE ever spawning. To ensure all females have at least one spawning, a MLS of 48 cm (2 lbs – 10 oz) is required.

We use existing photos, unless you send in a new one, on the new membership cards. New members will have to provide a passport type photo. Send the appropriate fee and photo (if new) to Mike Hurst, 24 Eastmoor Park Crescent, Sketty, Swansea, SA3 5PB, include your name and address. Applications can also be taken on a Thursday Club Night.

Annual fishing awards
There are 5 annual fishing awards:
(1) Best specimen fish caught outside Wales.
(2) Best specimen fish caught by a junior.
(3) Best specimen fish caught by a female.(Mary Bailey Cup)
(4) Best specimen fish caught by a male.
(5) Champion species hunter (challenge trophy).
Only fish caught in saltwater and during the award year are eligible.
We must see a photo of the fish and copy of a verified catch card.
You can only submit one catch per species for an award, you can supersede this with a future catch if you set a new personal best
Digital pictures and details to the catch recorder
Awards are as stated. In the event of a tie the Commodore will choose the winner.
Annual Awards Catch Registration Procedure:
Keep a record of the:
Weight and length of your fish;
Location where caught, and if applicable the name of the boat.
Take a photo of the fish.
Obtain verification by a fellow member or a member of the public. Obtain their contact details and signature.
Decide which award category you would like to be considered for.
Complete a Registration Form. Send the completed for to the Club admin@mmbfc.co.uk or hand in on Thursday Club night. Forms are available from the clubhouse on a Thursday night and on the boats.
All the fish details reported will be collated and the awards to the winners will be presented at an Awards Event in February/March.
